On November 25, 1957, Monte Melkonyan was born - Lieutenant Colonel of the RA Armed Forces, National Hero of Armenia and Hero of Artsakh. Monte Melkonyan is one of the most active figures in the liberation war.
Despite his humanity, he was a member of the A.S.A.L.A organization, and then became the head of ASALA-RM. Monte was respected by soldiers and civilians alike. Melkonyan's colleagues were distinguished by his education, patriotism and eternal desire to be useful to his people and state. He became a real hero of the Martuni region, whose defense was successfully held for a year. His nickname “Avo” began to be given to newborn boys by their parents, and there is no need to talk about the spread of the name itself.
